Liver Failure/Kidney Failure/Ascites

I am researching for a close family member that is very sick and being the very private person she is she didnt tell anyone about her condition. We do know that she is in liver faiure (due to cirrhosis) , going into kidney failure and has ascites. She was told that she cannot be put on a transplant list, but i have read that a family member can donate a part of their liver and of course a kidney. Does anyone have any information on any of the items above. I would mainly like to know if there is any course of action we can take, anything we can do to get on the list, timeframe for this type of illness. Anything really would be appreciated.
